Oblivion Review

Yo, today is Oblivion starring Tom Cruise turn to be review.

Oblivion is a Sci-Fi film with Tom Cruise playing Jack Harper, a Drone Technician whose partner is Andrea Risoborough who plays Victoria; the film is based on the graphic novel of the same name written by the director himself, Joseph Kosinski.

The film is set in the future, 2077 to be exact and tells the story of planet Earth after an alien invasion, first they destroyed our moon and then they invaded us so our only hope of salvation were the nuclear weapons, this allowed us to win the war but we basically left Earth uninhabitable so humanity had to left the planet and went to the space station called the "Tet" and from there they went to "Titan" which is Saturn biggest moon; this is where Jack Harper comes into play, with the human race no longer on Earth is up to Jack and Victoria to protect the machinery that is extracting the remaining Earth resources from the few remaining alien forces, Jack and Victoria are not alone, they have the aid from powerful defense Drones which is the reason Jack is there in case some alien or "Scavenger" as they call them, messes the drones up.

That is the basic plot of the film nevertheless the film has some interesting and unexpected twists like any good Sci-Fi movie should, the budget was 120 million dollars unfortunately the movie doesnt really show it, the setting given the fact that is Earth after a nuclear war, is all sand, is a desert so dont expect beautiful surroundings with the exception of the "Skytower", which is the place where Jack and Vic live; some flight scenes even look like taken from a cut-scene from a videogame.

The acting on the other hand is very solid and very enjoyable, Tom Cruise always brings a fun performance and the rest of the cast has very unique personalities, unfortunately the performances are not enough when the script does not deliver, as a Sci-Fi lover i was expecting awesome action sequences but instead i got some very generic explosion and gun fights; as i just mentioned the script does not deliver like it should have the film at times moves very slow that it makes you wonder if thats all the movie has to offer, it is only during the second half that the movie starts coming to life presenting you with twists to the plot and make you wonder how it is going to end for Jack Haper but despite that once the movie is over you feel something  was missing.

Oblivion has Tom Cruise with a strong performance, interesting ideas that at times move to slow only to  cause confusion and scenes that drag the film only for the sake of wasting time, all of that make Oblivion a film with a nice set-up but falls short in execution. I give this a 7/10

Jack The Giant Slayer Review

Yo, today is the new movie "Jack The Giant Slayer" turn to be review.

Ok, so this movie comes in 2D and 3D, the later is a tiny little better and the 3D only really comes to life at the last 20 min or so of the movie and has a running time of 1hr 40min aprox.

The movie is a Hollywood take on the popular kids tale "Jack and the magic beans" ;the main idea of the film goes like this: Jack is in the market and gets into trouble by defending a young lady´s honor that turns out to be the princess who later in the night goes to Jack´s house in order to thank him then a big storm comes down and just so happens that some beans got inside his bag during the market incident this start to grow insainly quickly when are touched by water, a big plant stands in the place that now used to be his house taking the princess all the way to the top so now the King sends Jack and a group of knights to rescue the princess, without knowing what kind of danger is waiting for them on the top.

The film is very enterteining, and Nicholas Hoult (Jack) does a nice job playing a humble farmer boy, Ewan McGregor also brings a fresh performance, Stanley Tucci´s performance may come out too cliché and at times too exagerated but giving the fact that is a kid tale becomes understandable; my only real critique would be the ending ,without spoiling anything i will only say that it feels too rush, i was expecting some epic climax to the story.

Overall with good performances and a movie that shouldn´t be taken seriously "Jack the Giant Slayer" succeds at being a nice "weekend film" to watch in family, i give this a 7/10

Oz The Great And Powerful Review

Yo, whats up guys? so today im reviewing as the title suggest the new Movie "Oz The Great And Powerful"

You can call this movie a prequel from the worldwide know story of The Wizard Of Oz; the movie starts in Kansas in a circus in which Oscar has a magic act, yes Oscar is the real name of Oz then he gets into a little trouble and one thing led to another so he ends up inside a tornado which takes him to the Land Of Oz, he meets Mila Kunis character, a good witch with the power of fire; Mila kunis looks beautiful here and does a good job throughout the whole movie with of course some cliches parts here and there but its a kids movie so its ok, James Franco also does a great job portraying a cunning magician/ fake wizard.

The whole movie focus on the prophecy that a powerful wizard will come and free the Land from the evil witch But Oscar has no magic only tricks that look like magic plus he´s selfish and egocentric so he has to deal with the task of being this savior when he´s nothing close to it.

Also a thing worth mentioning is the cast of the movie is fiil with amazing actors/actresses such as Zach Braff, Rachel Weiz , James Franco, Mila Kunis, Michelle Williams; one last thing is the 3D in the movie is nicely  done and worth paying the extra bucks specially if children are involve, this is the good 3D you want to see, this is the "in your face" 3D it really adds depht to the enviroments and makes you smile every time it happens.

Overrall the movie is set for a young demographic but it is also entertaining for adults, the acting is very credible, the effects are gorgeous, the running time goes almost to 2 hrs exactly and is worth watching, so i give it a 8/10
